Topics and services
ADAM learning and examination platform
Together with IT Services, we provide the central learning platform ADAM (ILIAS) and the examination platform ADAM EXAM. The ADAM learning platform has an interface to the student administration and offers access to other services such as DigiLit (digital semester course reserves), Panopto (video content management / event recording) and Turnitin (plagiarism identification).
eAssessment on campus
The eAssessment on campus service is aimed at lecturers and departments that wish to conduct digital written assessments with student computers in (teaching) rooms at the University of Basel. The service provides extensive information on possible examination scenarios, on the available examination platforms ADAM EXAM and EvaExam, on the examination process, on use of student computers, on suitable rooms for e-assessment and on support offerings. We offer this service together with IT Services.
Digital literacies
Promoting the digital skills of its members is a strategic concern of the University of Basel. As part of this initiative, we are responsible for maintaining and developing the Framework of digital literacies at the University of Basel. In this field, we also develop qualification and information services for members of the university, support the design and conduct of student courses, and provide advice on both an intra-university and inter-university basis. Owing to current developments, we attach particular importance to the promotion of AI skills.
Digital study environments
One of our focuses is on developing a range of digital synchronous and asynchronous study environments that address current learning needs and support skill development. This includes conducting and refining the UPGRADE your digital skills program, which provides students with practical skills when using digital tools. At the same time, we explore and develop new study formats to facilitate studying in a digital space and to strengthen skills acquisition while studying.
Teaching and learning spaces on campus
Together with lecturers, students and colleagues from many areas of the university administration, we develop contemporary teaching and learning venues and improve the existing offering. For this purpose, we actively incorporate topics of digital transformation and campus development from the standpoint of teaching and studies into New-build, conversion and development projects and support their implementation.
Qualification and information services
We support lecturers and teaching staff at the university with various qualification services (Training courses and Self-study resources) on digitalization in teaching and digital literacies. The courses are integrated into the internationally accredited certificates of Educational development.
Project management and evaluation
We have introduced, developed and established joint content-related and technical project standards for our increasingly complex projects, which involve numerous stakeholders, as well as internal and external partners. We do this in collaboration with the university-wide project management office working group. Furthermore, we design evaluations for our projects and services or that serve to answer institutional questions, implement them and prepare the results.
