The Communications department advises and assists University of Basel staff in effectively disseminating information on topics intended for a broad audience.
The Communications department regularly publishes news about significant research, major projects and current events. We advise the scientists on how to communicate their research externally. Together, we examine the best possibilities, activities and media and ensure they are implemented.

Translation tools and terminology
German and English are the languages of communication at the University of Basel. The Communications department is helping to implement the use of English as a secondary language of communication by offering several services. You can use our terminology database to look up terms and designations specific to the university and relevant to higher education. Style guides with several recommendations for proper language usage in English texts are available as well.
We support the organizations of the University of Basel in developing a strong online presence on social networks.
Each year, the University of Basel holds hundreds of events, some of which are intended for a specialized audience. Others are aimed at a wider audience as well. The staff from the Marketing & Events department assists the various university departments and units in organizing and holding events.
