Doctoral Studies Immediately Upon Graduation
Students can apply for admission to a doctoral program upon completion of their master degree at the University of Basel. Please proceed as follows:
- Log on to the university’s Online Services using your unibas email access data.
- Select “Semester Registration” within the stipulated registration period to proceed with registration.
- Activate the buttons “transfer to doctoral studies" and follow the instructions appearing on the screen.
Should you remain undecided by 18 August 2025 whether or not you will take up doctoral studies, please contact the Student Administration Office by this date.
When submitting the request, documents must be uploaded in one combined pdf file. The file must be no larger than 20 MB. The required documents vary depending on the faculty or doctoral regulations (see list below). Make sure to submit the request by the semester registration deadline even if not all required documents are available yet. These may be submitted later.
