Grants Office Services & Support
The Grants Office informs researchers at the University of Basel about national and international funding opportunities, for example about grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation and Horizon Europe.
We organize regular information and training events and can give you support and advice for the preparation of your proposal.
As part of the Euresearch mandate, the Grants Office additionally provides information and advice regarding Horizon Europe funding, free of charge, to researchers outside the university (research institutes, SMEs, industry) in the north-western region of Switzerland.
Grants Office Information
Providing up-to-date information on open calls and funding opportunities is one of our core activities. Every three months, researchers at the University of Basel receive a Grants Office newsletter directly in their mailboxes.
Current and past issues are also available on our website. The archived editions include engaging interviews and success stories from our scientists. We encourage you to explore these past accomplishments, as they offer both inspiration and valuable insights.
Grants Office Support
We can help you understand the main focus of the various funding schemes, check eligibility and discuss key factors for a successfully proposal. Our team provide support and advice with administrative, financial and technical matters, as well as advice for the proposal writing. Together with EUresearch free of charge proposal reviews are possible for some funding schemes.
For applicants that are invited for an interview as part of the evaluation process (ERC, SNF Starting Grants, EIC) we offer training events and organize mock-interviews. That gives a unique opportunity to boost chances during the actual interview. Grants Office expertise comes from conducting numerous interviews and close collaboration with the experts.
Events / Training
The Grants Office organises regular university wide events and can visit Department or Faculties on request to provide targeted information. An exceptional value of such information event is the possibility to discuss directly with the experts, various possibilities and project ideas.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you would like such event to take place at your department.
Together with Euresearch we organise information and training events regarding funding opportunities from Horizon Europe throughout the year. Additionally, dedicated Euresearch's Youtube channel provides you with the latest news and information on Horizon Europe funding opportunities.
Euresearch Network
The Grants Office also serves as a Regional Office of the National Contact Point for European funding. This means we are part of the Euresearch network in Switzerland.
If you are interested in the Horizon Europe programme, we recommend signing up for the Euresearch e-Alert and the Euresearch Newsletter:
- The Euresearch e-Alert provides the latest updates on calls for proposals, partner searches, and events. Thanks to its profiling system, you will receive targeted information tailored to your needs.
- The Euresearch Newsletter, on the other hand, offers current information and insights on European Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI).
Partner Search
Participation in Horizon Europe collaborative projects, requires a consortium of complementary research groups. The collaboration is often established by participating through networking events and projects groups. Several online platforms exist to help project coordinators, newcomers and regular participants to connect with each other:
- The official partner search of the European Commission,
- Partner Search Services and Platforms of Euresearch,
- Partnering Events.
Another way to find project partners is to study the EU-project database CORDIS for previous or running projects in your field.
