Promoting Health
The key to success and excellence is careful, sustainable use of finite resources. This includes our own health.
The University of Basel has been a member of the Swiss Network of Health Promoting Universities and Colleges ("Netzwerk Gesundheitsfördernde Hochschulen Schweiz") since 2009.
Participating universities are guided by the recommendations of the Okanagan Charter and understand health in accordance with the World Health Organization as a “state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” (Constitution of the World Health Organization, Preamble, 1946)
Health promotion at the University of Basel means supporting conditions that strengthen the well-being, performance, and job satisfaction of employees.
