Welcome to GRACE!

The Graduate Center creates optimal conditions for successful (post)doctoral studies. It contributes to the development of functioning structures in the field of doctoral studies at the University of Basel that are in line with the university’s mission statement and strategy as well as its quality standards and demand for competitiveness. GRACE promotes interdisciplinary exchange and prepares researchers for future challenges inside and outside of academia. In addition to offering various training formats and organizing networking events, GRACE is a contact and service point for concerns regarding all aspects of (post)doctoral studies.

News and Events

Information Event for new PhD candidates and Postdocs

On September 19 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., the Graduate Center is organizing an Information Event for new PhD candidates and Postdocs. The event will be held online. Together with all central services of the university, GRACE will provide you with important information for your time here in Basel – from Career Advancement to Transferable Skills. The zoom-link for the event will be made available in due time via the PhD and Postdoc mailing list. In the evening of the same day, there will also be an apéro organized by the assistants’ association avuba where new PhD candidates and Postdocs can get to know each other. 6th Global Science Film Festival

The 6th Global Science Film Festival is taking place on 8-10 November 2024 in Zurich, Basel, Bern and Lugano. It is also a platform for numerous marathons and workshops, such as the Science Filmmaking Marathon taking place on September 12-14, 2024 in Zurich. Doctoral candidates and postdocs from the University of Basel will have the opportunity to register for it as of August 7, 2024, when online registration for the Transferable Skills courses in the fall semester 2024 opens.

First Swiss-wide Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition

At the first Swiss-wide 3MT Competition on June 18th, doctoral candidates of the Universities of Zurich, Basel, EPFL, Lausanne and St. Gallen presented their research work in just three minutes. We congratulate Aude Andriollo (Cell Biology, University of Basel) on the audience award which she received for her presentation «Correcting Chromosome Excess to Cure Trisomy». War in Ukraine

The University of Basel would like to offer refugee students and researchers from Ukraine the opportunity to live and work academically in Basel. The website War in Ukraine provides an overview of the offers.

Newsletter
