EPICUR – European University Alliance
EPICUR is a first-generation European University Alliance that brings together twelve partner universities to jointly shape the European University of the future.
EPICUR addresses the challenges of our time
Against the backdrop of the growing challenges facing Europe today—from climate change and geopolitical tensions to demographic ageing—the EPICUR Alliance is committed to making a positive contribution and developing solutions to the pressing issues of our time.
EPICUR explores new approaches to teaching, learning, research, and collaboration across Europe. As a forward-looking confederation of universities, the Alliance creates European added value through institutionalized cooperation in education, research, and innovation. Students benefit from a European learning environment offering a diverse portfolio of courses that address key societal challenges. Academic staff have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from partner universities to develop innovative teaching formats and courses. EPICUR also places a strong emphasis on supporting early-career researchers by fostering international collaboration and providing opportunities to gain their first international teaching experience.
The Alliance's collaborative activities focus in particular on ecological and social sustainability as well as European identities, reflecting its commitment to addressing the major challenges shaping Europe's future.
