For students and doctoral candidates from Ukraine
The University of Basel offers Ukrainian students/doctoral candidates at Bachelor, Master and PhD level to study/research at the University of Basel as visiting students.
The University of Basel offers Ukrainian students and doctoral candidates fast and unbureaucratic access to the University of Basel by granting them guest status according to § 31 of the Student Regulations (document in German).
The following requirements for admission to guest status must be met:
- Proof of university matriculation at a Ukrainian university.
- Proof of the protection status S
- in case of guest doctorate: confirmation of a first supervisor at the University of Basel
Enrolment in guest status is generally limited to three semesters. It takes place at the level and in a comparable subject corresponding to the proof of enrolment at the Ukrainian university.
Excluded from the regulation of the guest status are the admission-restricted subjects of the Faculty of Medicine (human medicine and dentistry as well as sports science and nursing science).
Coordination Office for Refugees
The Coordination Office for Refugees is the first point of contact for refugee students and offers a free initial consultation on the following topics:
- Finances and budgeting
- Everyday questions
- Accommodations
- Correspondence with various official bodies (e.g. Migration Office, social welfare)
- Psychosocial issues
If necessary, the Coordination Office for Refugees will contact internal offices at the University of Basel and external offices in the Basel region.
