Leadership in Arts. How to make the Future feminine.

October 31, 2023

At this year's edition of the Carte Blanche event series, we had the privilege of spending an evening with Elena Filipovic at the Kunsthalle Basel. As head of the Kunsthalle Basel and future director of the renowned Kunstmuseum Basel, her talk focussed in particular on the importance of the targeted promotion of female leaders and the ongoing commitment to combating prejudice in application processes and in everyday professional life. Her inspiring life journey and her commitment to the visibility of women and marginalised groups in the art scene were thought-provoking.

After a long break, the popular networking event for female professors could finally take place again. The speaker at this year's edition was sociologist, professor and leadership coach Prof. Dr. Heather Hofmeister. At 35, she was the first woman in the C-suite leadership team at the University of Aachen, and in her talk she addressed the hurdles of being the only woman represented in high leadership bodies. At the same time, she focused in particular on the potential and importance of gender equality work in leadership teams.

2 May 2017

Group dynamics can be crucial for leadership. How can they be understood, managed and cultivated? This was the main focus of the training «Group & Mood. Understanding group dynamics and the changing moods they cause in teams and organizations». After the networking lunch, the participants had the opportunity to look behind some other scenes – at the Theater of Basel. Surprisingly, some interesting parallels between the management of so many different groups at a theater and at academia could be found.
