Increased phosphate intake elevates blood pressure in healthy adults

Processed cheese is particularly high in phosphorus, but many processed foods also contain large amounts from additives. A high level of phosphate in the blood can lead to an increase in blood pressure and pulse rate in healthy adults. (Image: Fábio Alves/Unsplash | CC0)
