28 January 2026 - Data Protection Day

European Data Protection Day will take place on 28 January 2026. It was established in 2006 and has been held annually ever since. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption by the Council of Europe of the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.

The data and information classification directive that came into force on 1 October 2025 supports the implementation of the requirements of the European Data Protection Convention.

The mandatory ADAM self-study learning course on data classification provides the essential foundations for the correct and responsible handling of information and data at the University of Basel.

Complete the ADAM self-study learning course now and contribute to effective data protection.
