Late applications for Master’s degree in Nursing Science with a recognised degree from a Swiss university or university of applied sciences
The application deadline for the fall semester 2026 elapsed on 30 April 2026. Late applications for the master program in Nursing Science are possible for holders of a recognized bachelor’s level degree from a Swiss higher education institution only (university, university of applied sciences) until 31 July 2026, provided a corresponding request is submitted by the deadline with the required documents/information. If the required documentation is incomplete or requires in-depth checks and clarification, the request for late application will be rejected. In this case, the applicant is free to apply for a subsequent semester in accordance with the proper deadlines. If the request is approved, the online application must then be submitted with all the required documents by the deadline provided. An additional fee of CHF 150 is payable for late applications. There is no entitlement to the processing of a late application, nor can the right to admission be derived from the processing of a late application.
The request must include the following information:
- Detailed information on previous studies at higher education institutions
- Exact details of bachelor's degree including date of completion
- Exact details of nursing diploma obtained
- Exact information on previous work experience including workload und time periods
- Copy of official identification (passport or ID card)
- Brief explanation for the late application
- A telephone number to resolve any questions

- Admission requirements
Admission to the master’s degree program in nursing science requires that you meet the University of Basel admission requirements.
These are explained in the student regulations (§13 ff.), in the admission regulations as well as in the regulations for master’s degree in nursing science (§3).
- Language requirements
The languages of instruction are German and English.
The corresponding language skills are prerequisites for the successful completion of a degree program. All language skills should be at a level of C1 or higher based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (see Self-Assessment Grids) before the beginning of a degree program.
Students are responsible for having attained the language skills required to successfully pursue their chosen degree program. Examination failures cannot be excused by insufficient language skills.
