Learning Platform ADAM and Assessment Platform ADAM EXAM
ADAM is the central teaching and learning platform at the University of Basel. ADAM supports courses that are offered in the context of undergraduate teaching, doctoral studies, continuing education or advanced training.
To enable students to take assessments on the platform on which they have studied, a dedicated examination platform ADAM EXAM for summative digital examinations is provided on campus in addition to the ADAM learning platform.
ADAM and ADAM EXAM are based on ILIAS, an open source software that is supported by a broad community with members from both the school and private sectors. The University of Basel is part of this community and thus helps to continuously improve ILIAS according to the needs of the entire ILIAS community as well as the staff and students of the University of Basel.
The University of Basel's Educational Technologies Office and IT Services ensure the operation and further development of ADAM and ADAM EXAM in collaboration with an external service provider. This includes
- Provision of infrastructure
- Development and maintenance of interfaces
- Strategic embedding in the IT service catalog of the University of Basel
- Active participation in the ILIAS community
- Didactic and technical support
- Documentation and training
- Committee work regarding innovations and financing, e.g. through
- ADAM user representation (Sounding Board)
- ADAM Steering Committee
