Nadja Braun Binder nominated president of the Federal Statistics Committee
The Federal Council has nominated Nadja Braun Binder as new president of the Federal Statistics Committee. Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Basel, she will take up her post on 1 April 2022.

Professor Nadja Braun Binder has been a professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Basel since 2019. Born in Bern in 1975, she earned her doctorate degree at the University of Bern in 2005. She also holds an MBA in public administration from the University of Salzburg and a habilitation from the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer.
Nadja Braun Binder worked in the legal field for ten years at the Federal Chancellery. Her work there concerned various areas important to the development of statistics, such as digitisation in public administration and its legal implications.
The Federal Statistics Committee is an extra-parliamentary committee. Its main purpose is to provide the Federal Council, the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA), the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) as well as other producers of official statistics with advice on important matters relating to federal statistics.
Committee members include representatives from the scientific and economic communities, the social partners, the cantonal and communal statistics offices, suppliers and users of data, as well as the Swiss National Bank.
