The "Highly Cited Researcher" distinction honors scientists who have made a significant and wide-ranging impact in their fields.

The selection process relies on data from the interdisciplinary citation index known as the “Web of Science Core Collection,” along with both quantitative and qualitative analyses conducted by experts. The “Cross-Field” category specifically features scientists who have published exceptional work across multiple disciplines.

The list of Highly Cited Researchers, published annually by the US company Clarivate, includes nearly 6,900 researchers worldwide this year. Switzerland ranks ninth in the country ranking with 130 distinguished scientists.
