University of Basel ERC Applicants
ERC current situation
Due to Switzerland's status as a Third Country for Horizon Europe, ERC applications with research institutions from Switzerland are currently not possible for the Starting, Consolidator and Advanced Grants. For the Synergy Grant with 2-4 researchers per application, one partner may come from a Third Country and applications with research institutions from Switzerland are therefore possible.

Researchers from the University of Basel or University Hospital & Clinics who are planning to apply to for an ERC Grant, are requested to contact the Grants Office (Eve Silfverberg or Luca Wacker) well before the deadline. Support offered to applicants includes:
- Individual advice
- Applicants workshops
- Proposal review
- ERC applicants can also apply to the University's Research Fund for up to 50,000CHF for the preparation of thier ERC proposal.
Professorships for ERC Grantees at the University of Basel
Since December 2019 the University of Basel offers successful ERC Grantees for the duration of the project:
- the status of Assistant Professor
- up to 20% of their personal salary
Host Commitment
ERC applicants require a "Commitment of the Host institution". At the University of Basel this is organised by the Grants Office. Please enter the details of your ERC proposal in the Grants Tool of the university, at least three weeks before the deadline.

Proposals are submitted via the Funding & Tenders Portal using the templates provided by the ERC. (Click on the link for the relevant Call)
For the proposal registration, you will need to enter the following information for the Unviersity of Basel.

In step 4 of the proposal submission process ("Parties"), the Main Host Institution Contact has to be entered. For the University of Basel this is:
