SSABDP Venture workshop 2016 in Johannesburg

South African scientists are encouraged to unlock their entrepreneurial capabilities during this three-day intensive workshop. Delivered by Venturelab the workshop is designed to communicate to participants what is needed to launch an entrepreneurial career and enable them to take the next step to move their project or business idea forward.

Entrepreneurial know-how

A series of lectures provide information on Intellectual Property Protection, Licensing and Financial Models. An overview on financing outlined financial planning, the stages of the Investment process plus valuation and access to capital.Interactive

Participants actively take part in a number of training activities over the three days and present their projects and business ideas in the Pitching workshop which gives the would-be entrepreneurs skills to improve their individual business pitches. Working in groups, participants have the opportunity to compare business plans, craft a business strategy and go through the process of developing a financing plan.

Local knowledge

While using Swiss best practices and experiences in entrepreneurship to inspire participants, the workshop also provide local knowledge with input from South African experts on topics such as 'How to access funding: Introduction to SA funding environment' and examples of hightech start-ups in South Africa.
