Additional requirements for the admission with a degree from a university of applied sciences or a university of teacher education recognised by the University of Basel
In addition to the requirements of the student regulations dated 28 September 2011 of the University of Basel and the guidelines of admission to the University of Basel, the following requirements have to be fulfilled in case of an application with a degree from a university of applied sciences or a degree from a university of teacher education recognized by the University of Basel:
- Degree with a grade average of lower than 5 (not rounded)
The grade average has to be at least 5 (not rounded) according to the Swiss grading system (grades: 1 to 6, 6 = max. / 4 = pass) in order to allow access to master’s studies. An admission to the bachelor’s studies is possible as long as there are no special admission requirements.
- Admission in the case of an exclusion
Applicants will not be granted admission if they have been definitively excluded from further study in a degree program or degree subject at a Swiss or non-Swiss higher education institution or are no longer permitted to continue their studies in said institution, program or subject (section 13 para. 2 of the Student Regulations). Deviations from this principle can be allowed in the case of an exclusion from a bachelor’s degree program and the subsequent awarding of a degree by a university of applied sciences or a university of teacher education recognized by the University of Basel with a grade average of 5 (not rounded) according to the Swiss grading system if this degree allows for access to the master’s degree course at the University of Basel. The admission to a comparable bachelor’s degree course is not permitted in any case.
