Admission to the master’s studies

The student regulations from 28 September 2011 decrees the following provisions in section 16 to 18:

§ 16 The admission to the master’s degree program requires a bachelor’s degree with 180 credit points from a higher education institution recognized by the University of Basel.

  1. The admission to the master’s degree program follows a motion presented by the examination commission of the faculty, in which it recommends to the rectorate to either allow or deny the admission.

  2. In the event that a bachelor’s degree only partially fulfills the requirements listed in the master’s study regulations, the admission can be issued contingent on the student taking certain classes in the bachelor degree program. This is only possible if these contingencies do not exceed 30 credit points and the missing knowledge and skills are not essential to the master’s degree program and they are not essential requirements according to the specific master’s study regulation.

  3. In the event that the admission according to no. 3 is impossible, the faculty can propose a motion in any case, so that the knowledge and skills can previously be acquired at bachelor level. The student is consequently enrolled at bachelor level. The bachelor degree cannot, however, be awarded.
