Admission to bachelor’s studies with foreign educational qualifications

The admission to a degree program at the University of Basel is granted in accordance with the admission regulations of the rectorate and the regulations and rules of the university. The admission regulations for the upcoming academic year are issued in December by the Rectorate, in accordance with interuniversity and international guidelines.

Basic principles for the recognition of foreign educational qualifications

The admission to the bachelor’s studies requires proof of a secondary school leaving certificate or a degree issued by a recognized higher education institution (section 15 of the student regulations). Foreign secondary school leaving certificates are evaluated based on the  recommendations defined by the plenary assembly of the Rectors’ Conference of the Swiss Universities (CRUS) on 7 September 2007, and the fundamental principles for the acceptance of secondary school leaving certificates and admission to studies at Swiss universities that were approved by CRUS on 6 March 2003.
