The University of Basel promotes the entrepreneurial spirit in students and provides an innovation-friendly environment. To this end, the university collaborates with partner organizations to offer practically-oriented courses on the topics of entrepreneurship, business creation and intellectual property (IP). In addition, it encourages students to exchange ideas with successful young entrepreneurs.
Always during the fall semester, the University of Basel offers a “Business Concept” entrepreneurship course in cooperation with Innosuisse, the Swiss Innovation Agency. Participants with innovative business ideas or technologies learn how to prepare themselves for founding a company. The course coaches are all experts in the areas of business creation or business financing, for example, and help participants market their ideas successfully. Applications to take part in the 2018 course will be opened in summer. However, interested people can take contact with the Innovation Office anytime and register their interest.
Students at the University of Basel can attend foundation courses organized by Business Tools AG in Zurich at a reduced rate. These short courses are aimed at beginners who are interested in founding a company.
Open to interested students, researchers and spin-offs from the University of Basel, the Entrepreneurs Club meets regularly for discussions with venture capitalists, experts, coaches and industry representatives in a relaxed exchange of ideas.
