The University of Basel promotes the translation of excellent research into innovations and entrepreneurship. PhD students, young researchers and professors pursuing technology transfer or seeking to found a start-up are supported with mentoring/coaching. The point of contact is the university’s Innovation Office.
Coaching & mentoring
- The University of Basel’s coaching and mentoring activities bring members of the university with innovative technologies and ideas into contact with an experienced and well-connected team of experts.
- The Inkubator initiative of the University of Basel and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) coaches companies during their early stages and provides office space in various locations at favorable prices.
Unitectra is the technology transfer organization of the Universities of Basel, Bern and Zurich. It offers researchers at the University of Basel help with the process of commercializing research findings in relation to, for example, protecting and managing intellectual property (IP), licensing intellectual property and negotiating research contracts with private partners. Unitectra organizes the annual Brainbox event as a rendezvous for researchers interested in technology transfer.
